S.M.C. Laguna ceiling fan model KB52/48/42. These ceiling fans were manufactured in the late 1970s, into the early 1980s. Made in Hong Kong by S.M.C., Sold and distributed by Fanco of the USA. Has an on forward/reverse/off pull switch and a variable speed control. This is the modefication version with a metal switch housing, and also the version they started putting the capacitor in the switch housing. While still having the extra parts, they decided to keep the capacitor compartment and lower canopy until they ran out. These were also the first ones to have the reverse feature. S.M.C. did some minor changes to the 52 inch Laguna ceiling fans without giving them a different model number. |

Fan 2 |
This is one of the last S.M.C. Laguna ceiling fans model KB52/48/42 with a lower canopy. This one does not have the capacitor in the lower canopy. Most likely the reason why S.M.C. continued to put the lower canopies and the capacitor compartment on these fans, was to get rid of the extra parts, or did not come up with another way to mount down rod to motor yet. This ceiling fan has a two speed, forward, reverse pull chain and a variable speed control that works with both speeds. The switch housing is metal. S.M.C. did some minor changes to the 52 inch Laguna ceiling fans, without giving them a different model number. |
