One hot summer, over 100 years ago, in 1897, Emerson opened the doors of its small, rented office space to begin as a manufacturer of railroad switching equipment. After a few short years, the young company started the electrical world by creating the first brush-type fan motor-an innovation that was to find a welcome home in one of the world's first desk fans.
